Barn conversions

Traditional agricultural buildings turned into finished living space, keeping the character of the original structure.

Barn conversions

Dumfries and Galloway has a lot of stone steadings and outbuildings that are far more useful as living space than as storage. Converting one is a genuine building project rather than a fit-out: the shell has to be surveyed, stabilised, made watertight and insulated before any of the internal work can start.

We work with the building rather than against it. Original roof trusses, stone walls and openings are kept and made a feature where they are sound, and new glazing is set into existing gables and cart openings so the elevation still reads as a barn. New floors, insulation and services go in behind the finishes.

Because the structure, the trades and the joinery are all handled by us, decisions that cut across those boundaries — where a steel goes, how a floor build-up meets a threshold, how a truss is exposed — get made once, on site, by the people doing the work.
