Blair Gourlay Joinery and Construction is an owner-led joinery and building business working across Dumfries and Galloway. Blair is a fully qualified tradesman and has been trading since 2019 — seven years of taking on domestic work from single rooms through to complete new houses.
What started as one joiner has grown into a team. As the work has come in we have taken on time-served joiners, and between us and the trades we work with, there is nothing we need to send you elsewhere for. That is the point of how we run jobs: you deal with Blair from the first conversation to handover, and we manage the sequencing, the trades and the deliveries so you do not have to.

How a Project Runs
Every job is different, but the shape is the same — one point of contact, all trades covered, from the first conversation to the day you get the keys back.
The first conversation
Tell us what you are planning. We will come out, look at the property properly, talk through what is realistic and what it would involve, and follow up with a written quote.
Nothing is decided at this stage — it is a conversation about what you want and whether the building will allow it.
Design and planning
If you already have drawings from an architect or designer, we work to those. If you do not, we help shape the layout with you and set out what is being built before anything starts.
This is also where we talk through finishes and options, and where a change costs a pencil line rather than a week's work.
The build
All trades are sequenced by us, from foundations through to final finishes. Materials arrive when they are needed, and every stage is set up so the next one can start cleanly.
One person owns the programme, so there are no gaps between trades for the job to fall into.
Finishing and handover
Final joinery, decoration and finishes, then the site cleared and cleaned before we hand the work back over to you ready to use.
We keep the place tidy throughout, not just on the last day.

What areas do you cover?
We work across Dumfries and Galloway. If you are near the edge of the region and not sure whether we would come out to you, just ask — it is usually worth a phone call.
Do you handle the whole project, or do I need to find other trades?
We handle the whole thing. All trades are covered, either in-house or booked and sequenced by us, and you deal with Blair from the first conversation through to handover. You should not need to arrange anything separately.
Do you offer free quotes?
Yes. Quotes are free and there is no obligation. We will come out, look at the job properly and put a written price together — tell us what you are planning and we will arrange a time.
Do you take on new builds as well as extensions and renovations?
Yes. We build complete houses and bungalows from the ground up, as well as extensions, renovations, barn and garage conversions and garden rooms. We also develop and market our own new-build homes.
Is the finished work guaranteed?
Yes — we provide a written guarantee on the work we complete. We will confirm exactly what it covers for your project when we quote.
What happens after I get in touch?
We will arrange a time to come and look at the job, talk through what you are trying to achieve and what is realistic, and follow that up with a written quote. If you go ahead, we will agree a start date and take it from there.
